Care for people

living with HIV

Inclusive HIV care with dignity and respect

Whether you’re a long-term survivor, newly diagnosed, or somewhere in the middle, we’re here for you. Our goal is to keep you in the loop on treatment breakthroughs, lend support as you start, restart, or stick with treatment, and empower you to reach an undetectable, untransmittable status.

Piedmont Care services for people living with HIV are funded through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE), the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS), and Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA).

Case Management

No matter what your HIV status is,

we’re here to help.

Navigating healthcare, tackling insurance, and sticking to medication can be tough.

That’s where
our dedicated
team steps in.

We’re here to offer personalized support for people living with HIV through compassionate case management.

  • Case Managers serve as advocates for people living with HIV, help clients and their families access services through Piedmont Care or other community organizations, and link clients with appropriate health and support services.

  • If you or someone you know is living with HIV and needs help or more information, please call our office at (864) 582-7773 to schedule an intake appointment with a Case Manager. Referrals also come from those who administer HIV tests, such as family doctors, hospitals, and health departments. Each client is assigned a Case Manager, and in the absence of the assigned Case Manager, another will be available.

  • As with all Piedmont Care staff, Case Managers follow strict rules for confidentiality and treat every client with dignity and respect.

Medical Care

We pride ourselves on offering a sanctuary of safe, welcoming, and affirming medical care specifically for individuals living with HIV.

Our comprehensive services encompass dedicated HIV primary care, dental services, mental health support, and much more.

  • We provide comprehensive primary medical care and support to individuals who are living with HIV as their main healthcare focus. This care typically involves regular check-ups, monitoring of HIV-related health issues, managing medications, and addressing any other health concerns that may arise. Our providers specialize in understanding and treating HIV, ensuring that clients receive the specific care they need to manage their condition effectively.

  • Clients without dental insurance can receive dental services through Piedmont Care. Additionally, certain services like cleanings may be available to Medicaid clients even if Medicaid doesn't cover them.

  • Piedmont Care assists people with HIV and AIDS in accessing drug assistance programs that can cover most or all the costly medications they need.

Mental Health Support

We understand the unique challenges of living with HIV. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health support for our clients.

You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Our compassionate team is here to support you every step of the way.

  • Mental health services are provided in the Piedmont Care office four days each week by a licensed counselor. We offer 30-minute to 1-hour client appointments, depending upon client need. Appointments may be face-to-face, by telephone, or via telehealth. Piedmont Care provides assessments and follow-up between mental health provider and Case Management team.

  • Our monthly client support group brings together people living with HIV to share their experiences and provide encouragement to each other.
